3D printer SkyOne for printing in modeling - printing of a water jet engine for a model of a radio-controlled motor boat
Can a hobby not just give a joy, but also fully develop a human? Surely. It is very pleasant, when the time is spent not just for a joy, but also for a benefit. And if it is a technical-grade hobby, it is important to implement an arisen idea quickly and to a good quality. A modern and universal way to realize that - 3D printing. Capabilities of 3D printing are unlimited. It could be a theater group, reconstruction, aeromodelling, collecting - a need of creation of new physical object there is everywhere.
This day we will consider making models of radio-controlled motor boats. Making a model, developing a design and creating a control system - it is a challenge for a proper adherer of modelling!
In our opinion, an interesting solution is a boat, which runs on hydrojet propulsion. It is safe, if young designers will play with the model. And it is interesting from the viewpoint of an experiment. Some stuff will be needed for the project - electronics, control mechanism, radio equipment (all these items could be bought from hobby-shops), a motor boat frame will be made from extruded foam polystyrene (made from ceiling tiles), and a water jet will be printed on a 3D printer SkyOne.
In general, using 3D printing, we gain such benefits as free choice of a shape, a color, styling and possibility to improve continually our model.
The model can be designed by ourselves using any 3D software, or it can be found and downloaded from internet.
We chose the next one:
This model meets our requirements, but if we would like to make any improvements in future, it could be easily done with a 3D printer SkyOne. Especially as ismultiplex repetition of printed items takes place with unaltered dimensions.
The water jet consists of six printed parts:
- Impeller;
- Impeller frame;
- Motor mounting flange;
- Flange console (2 pcs.);
- Intermediate support.
Additionally will be required:
- Two miniature ball-bearings in diameter 10 mm (suitable model is 623-2Z);
- Shaft in diameter 3 mm (tail-end of a 3 mm drill is suitable enough);
- Mounting screws M3.
It is as simple as that. It only remains to state technical details and the high quality of the final product. In such a manner, 3D printers SkyOne could be fully-featured used for such a field as a modeling. It is possible to obtain excellent results and to create being limited just by own imagination.
