Alkobot. An example of production of automated devices for drinks filling.

How to attract visitors to the booth on exhibition? Someone attracts visitors by loud music and songs, someone hires beautiful models and offers to take a photo with them. And our partners decided to use people's penchant for getting of material benefits. As known, visitors at exhibitions like schwag and free promotional items. But not some useless cheap stuff as CDs and trinkets. But something representing a value, even better - expensive. In the meantime, these "representing a value and expensive" stuff should not be really such expensive for those, who distributes it. So finally was decided to attract visitors by alcoholic drinks. The most of people like alcoholic cocktails. Everybody knows, that "Mojito" is not cheap in a bar of a exhibition centre. But the real cost of the coctail not such high. The only was needed is to find polite and not too sleepy barman, which would remain the same during about ten hours.

Having different length linear modules, programmable stepper motor controllers and 3D printer at fingertips, we can build an alcobot.

Linear module 3D printer SkyOne

The exhibition should be held in winter, so ice and mint was not used. So the task for the alcobot was simplified - just to stir the drinks from different bottles and serve the glass to a visitor. Alcobot should not be expensive, possibly even usable only once - to dispose of the device after the exhibition with no regret.

For the Z axis was used a stepper motor with an outsize screw, two linear bearingsand, 3D printed base and green pusher for a purchased dispenser.

Axises X and Y - linear modules with belt drive and a cable conduit.

Motion speed was set not very high. It was decided no to contend against the motor noise, as it is always very noisy at exhibitions.

During drinks pouring the linear modules were flowed by rum few times. But it didn't affect operation. This alcobot came out really as a single use. Per 3 days of the exhibition all staff members got bored with it. Now it is unwanted and kept in a housekeeping area. Result: during the exhibition 900 coctails were served. The exhibit booth was in a dense ring of visitors the whole time of the exhibition. Is it good or bad? From one hand, alcobot is a good solution for attracting of visitors, as relations with visitors work well with not strong coctails. But from another hand, it was hard to get the booth through the crowd. Furthermore our partners don't manufacture alcobots and don't deal with catering. Time will tell.
